Don't know where to start with this place. First I'll say there's nothing else like it if it's kind except in Israel. When I was there tonight I found out they opened a second location on 1st ave and 91 street in Manhattan. Beet salad, spicy carrot salad, red cabbage salad ,eggplant salad, Israeli salad, tabouli salad is what i took out tonight and went miles out of my way to get. This is even after I ate dinner. It's made fresh on the premises every day. There's also falafel and schwarma and other Israeli goodies. The place isn't too clean but I don't care. Of course when I got home and was putting it all away for tomorrow I tasted a bit of everything. The greatest pita bread as well. The healthiest food on the planet.

I will never come back to this place, 1- took 40 minutes to get my sandwich 2- owner is rude and cheap 3- you will wait same amount of time whether there is 3 or 15 people ahead of you 4- always puts in burnt meat I waited 40min to get home and find the meat to be burnt and the sandwich which was a baguette to be literally empty. I was really Pissed because i waited all this time, and ended up with a piece of bread and tehina. I never came here and didn't see the owner fighting with a customer. He's known to be cheap and angry all the time. Don't waste your TIME and money there, plenty more options here in Brooklyn

Maybe the worst restaurant I have ever been at. Burnt food, horrible attitude, yelling and screaming, dirty , the cashier, who I suspect is the owner was so nasty. Stay away.

The wife owner was extremely rude! When asking her a question, she looked at me and said "can't you see i'm praying??" Excuse me, but you're running a business, this is not a synagogue. I hope they close up, this is why kosher restaurants have bad reputations, because of arrogant people who think we can't go anywhere else to eat.

I ordered here through GrubHub, and had the special Kofte in pita with 2 salads. I added fries for 75 cents, and had the fried eggplant and pickles. I added techina, and on the side, had falafel balls. The food was solid, the combination of flavors in the sandwich played off each other and balanced each other very nicely. My beef (sadly not the good kind, like the kofte kebab in my sandwich) with them is over service, or lack thereof. After submitting the order online, I check my phone and see a call from a strange number. I call that number, not knowing who it was, and ask who it is. On the phone comes a gruff, nasty, mamzer-like man who had all the charm of a retired IDF commando doling out shawarma on the street with a cigarette dangling in his mouth. He was impolite, cruel, and in his heavy accent asked "what you want?". He then puts on someone else who asks if I wanted the order I just put in and paid for on GrubHub. If I didn't want the order, I wouldn't have put it in. I never had any place I ordered from on GrubHub do that to me. I was terribly insulted and angered that people would emigrate to my country and prosper while treating customers like garbage. Adding insult to injury, I specifically said on the order that I was on the second floor/upstairs of the address I gave. The delivery guy (who dressed like a hood rat thug) had an attitude that G-d forbid, he had to commit the horrific atrocity of climbing a few stairs, and when I came to the door, he didn't even come to the door, and instead I was forced to lean forward more than MSNBC in order to get my food! The way that looked, the neighbors would have thought I was a junkie getting my fix from what looked like a drug deal! I'd never order from here again. The customer service aspect is atrocious. Had the service been passable, I would have given them four stars, as the food is not bad. Between Zohan on the phone (this place sadly doesn't serve FizzyBubbleh) and the gangster rapper delivery guy with a crap attitude, I was simply done. I want the non-Jewish customers to know that they treat Jews like me with contempt, as well. These are equal opportunity misanthropes. If you hate humanity that much, don't be in the hospitality business.

It must be the people. I've been here at least a dozen times. And the food has been awesome every time. The owners are really very nice. If they are curt it's because A. They are so darn busy. They also do big takeout business. B. Because what's to ask? The menu is short. You walk in you should know what you want. And I want and recommend the baby chicken. So if you want the best meal you've eaten in a long time. Walk in, order, take the salad plate and fill up. Then sit enjoy and wait for your main. If you're disappointed it's not because of the place or food.

The dryness of the falefel sandwich was only exceeded by the rudeness of the server and the slowness of the preparation. When I asked if I could have the same salad (lettuce &tomatoes) on my wrap as the person before me... The server snapped something rude that concluded with NO!

Food is awesome for those who are not watching their figures. Classic falafel, shawarma, fries, chicken salad. Delicious every time. They lose a star Bc the place needs major revamping.

Love this place! This is a family owned and ran business and you can taste that in the food. My favorite thing here is the chicken cutlet on a baguette bread. The cutlet is pure white meat with some sesame seeds on it. I personally like my food dry so this place is perfect for me but the only complaints Ive heard from people I have taken here or suggested to try was that the stuff might be a bit too dry. I also love their sour pickles. (they slice them to perfection and they have a perfect kick of garlic) You order a sandwich and they provide you with a plate for you to choose unlimited sides from their salad bar. They have a bunch of israeli salads and even carry a Russian style salad called Olivye (for those who know! know! ) They also make this dry bread that's fried in garlic butter and tastes so delicious. They carry a wide selection of glass bottle sodas which is a great addition to this already amazing meal. Their spicy fries are also very good. The meal will run you $15-20 dollars but you are getting high quality food and large portions. Enjoy!

Don't let the name fool you / it's quite delicious and not just a corner store quality... Well off corner lol Service leaves a bit to be desired but the food quality is worth it

Was recommended by my friend to try shawarma at this place. So I came inside this place and there was an old grumpy man sitting and taking people's order by the cashier stand. He was very rude and talked to each client in a not normal matter like not answering their questions and screaming on the phone. It was my turn, and I asked him for a shawarma in a pita and I was wondering if it was chicken or turkey and he started screaming and yelling because I asked him a question. What's wrong with asking a question ? After 15 to 20 min I finally got my shawarma and it wasn't the best I ever had. The salads that they had were discussing and had no taste in it. Tried much better shawarma than this place.

  • Ari N.

i really liked the salad bar, i usually order the felafel for $7 and leave stuffed from filling up at the salad bar with over a dozen items. the grumpy old man who operated the cashier is consistently rude to me despite my being such a regular customer so i dont go as often, i think he is the owner but he is always grumpy and mean. aside from the salad bar they have to 3 sauce pumps serving ambar, tehina, and ketchup. there is also a great hot sauce.

    (3)
  • Lauren G.

I've been there a few times. The salads are very good and very fresh. I've tried the kofta kabab and it's very tasty and fresh. The place is always clean, and the service is fast. I will continue to go there whenever I'm in the area.

WATCH OUT FOR THE OWNER!! He has a big attitude problem!! Had some run-ins with him before when all I tried to do is ask a question. When calling today to ask a simple question I got HUNG UP ON! when I called back he said he would hang up AGAIN (with a screaming voice! His Rudeness is just ABSURD!!

Really good shwarma and food at this place. I have been here many times. It does seem like the prices are getting higher and the amount of shawarma in the sandwich is getting less and less though.

  • Xtina D.

5 stars for the best shawarma i have ever had and yes I've been to Israel three times. Destroys Dabush in TLV. Really, though. Haven't tried anything else on the menu but I'm cool with that. People who hate on the couple that owns the joint are ridiculous. One time I dropped my plate of salads all over the floor and the nice woman (wife of the gentleman who sits at the counter) couldn't have been more comforting. Good way to ensure I come back, so props. The real trick here is don't come on a Sunday evening. It's absolute chaos but that's only because of the folks frequenting it and lots of kids all over the place.

I have never written a review on yelp but having read the other reviews for this establishment I felt the need to share my experience. Yes I will agree the food is good however the owner is very rude. I was eating there with 3 friends and went to grab napkins for our table after taking the 5th napkin keep in mind I am taking for our whole table the owner asked me if I was going to shower do to the amount of napkins I was taking. Terribly rude wouldn't go back

  • Tina P.

I agree with other reviewers, the male cashier (the owner) was super rude, arrogant and didn't even put in our orders. We waited for about 40 minutes to get our food. And he wasn't even apologetic. It seems like they are racist too. (only friendly to their own kind). RUDE AND NASTY. DON'T GO. They should rename themselves as "GET OFF THE CORNER"!

    (1)
  • Ed B.

Ummmm, what's wrong with you people? This is the best Shawarma and Shnitzel in Brooklyn! Their falafel is good, but why would you ever order it? lol. Seems like all the reviews are about the owner, and rarely about the actual food. If you're ever in Brooklyn, and you want Sharma, this is the place to go. OK, maybe this, Olympic or Famous Pita... but that's it.

    (5)
  • Sara A.

A pretty decent Spot. I mean, if you are a shawarma buff and have had many in the past, you will probably say you have had better. As for a shawarma spot in Brooklyn i think they do their thing ok. They also have a salad bar which you can attack without limit which is also pretty cool.

    (3)
  • Karen L.

The food is decent. The chicken shawarma is probably their most popular item. The salad bar is full of decent selections. The service can be slow when busy. The cashier is rude. Seems very unwelcoming towards other people of different backgrounds (I.e. persons of the non Jewish religion)

I wish, really wish I could give this place 5 stars. But every time I go here it's a different story. Either it's crowded and messy, or it's a long wait, or the food is not good. Yes, there I said it. The food here is NOT good. I've eaten here about 10 times and I get dragged here every time one of my friends who claims to love this place wants to get shawarma. It's expensive (but in all fairness, most kosher shawarma places are). Every time I get pressured into giving it another chance. The shawarma is either salty and dry, or greasy and not fresh, or just not good period. I never had a satisfactory shawarma here. And I'm sitting there, everyone is oohing and ahhing how good it is, and I'm praying to god almighty I won't get food poisoning again. (happened once a few years ago, but as you can see I overlooked it). I don't get it. It's just not good, nothing special. If you do come here and want something decent, get the baby chicken kebab. Because there's no way anyone can screw that up. I had it last time and it was very good. That's why I am giving 3 instead of 2 stars. My friend that brought me here kept telling me to try the shawarma, and I adamantly refused and opted for the baby chicken kebab. Good idea, because he had an upset stomach for the entire night. And to the reviewer that claims this is best shawarma she ever had, she must be dreaming. So yes, as long as this place is around, I will be going here. But for a small salad plate and a bottled water. Not for anything that requires cooking. Salad is usually very fresh.

This places has some good and bad. The good: The chicken shwarma is pretty good; the kufta kabob is usually tasty; the falafel is decent; there is a nice salad bar with refills if you are dining-in. The bad: The owner, who often sits at the cashier, can be extremely rude; the place can get crowded very quickly and it can take an hour to get your food; the place is not very clean, I saw a roach crawling near the sink; it's a bit pricey, especially since they raised all their prices a few months ago.
